Prior to 1995, little was known in Georgia about the problems and needs of people with disabilities and, most importantly, the key role of their integration into society. No programs and activities were developed to assist persons with disabilities and their families in making positive changes. It was easy for the specialists to tell the parents that the best environment for the child was the family.

The stereotypical perceptions established within the society, the facts of violation of the rights of people with disabilities led to the idea of creating the first union of parents of children with disabilities. Following the eagerness of the union members to create a perfect environment and a better future for children, led to the formation of an initiative group in 1995, while in October 1997, the union was officially registered and the first non-governmental organization "Child, Family, Society" was established in Georgia.

For 21 years, the organization has not changed its field of activity and target group. "Child, Family, Society" continues to work actively on the issues of social integration of children and adolescents with disabilities.
